Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information PawCosts (pawcosts.xyz) collects when you use this website, how it is used, and the choices you have. PawCosts is a calculator and publishing site: it has no user accounts, no comments system and no checkout.

Information we collect

Information you send us. If you email us or use the contact form (which opens your own email app), we receive your name, email address and the contents of your message. We use it only to reply and to improve the site (for example, to correct a price).

Usage data. Like most websites, our hosting and analytics providers record standard log data — pages visited, approximate location (country/region), device and browser type, and referring page. We use Google Analytics 4 (Measurement ID shown in the site’s code as a launch placeholder until activated) to understand which calculators and guides are useful. Analytics data is aggregated and is not used to identify individual visitors.

Calculator inputs. The calculations run entirely in your browser. The pet sizes, budgets and options you enter are never transmitted to or stored by PawCosts.

Cookies and advertising

PawCosts uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics and, when advertising is enabled, for serving ads through Google AdSense. Specifically:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• We and third-party vendors may use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) together to inform, optimise and serve ads based on past visits.

Opting out. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a range of third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies directly; the calculators on this site work with cookies disabled.

How we use information

• To operate, maintain and improve the calculators and content.
• To respond to messages you send us.
• To measure readership in aggregate (for example, which guides are most useful).
• To serve advertising, where enabled, as described above.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share data only with the service providers who run the site (hosting, analytics and advertising partners such as Google), under their own privacy policies, and where required by law.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you (in practice, only emails you have sent us), and ask for its correction or deletion, by writing to hello@pawcosts.xyz. Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA may give you additional rights, including the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. We honour deletion and objection requests regardless of location.

Children

PawCosts is written for adults researching pet ownership and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy
